What's the difference between Vaseline and lip gloss in terms of appearance?

My school is a non-Makeup school, but I've just been a bit confused over the difference between Vaseline and lip gloss in appearence-they will let you have Vaseline but not lip-gloss.
Cool, your all getting one point!

Vaseline isn't as shiny and softens and helps chapped lips. Whereas lip gloss if purely for beauty

How do you make lip gloss appear on African-American lips?

I'm African-American and I have all these different shades of lip gloss but none of them show up on my lips.Any tricks?

Steps DD :
1. Eyeshadow Primer or a Light concealer on your lip to cover the natural pigments a bit.
2. Moisturize, with a lip balm or any other product.
3. Lip liner, not only around the mouth, fill in the lips to intensify the color.
4. Lipstick, with the lip liner underneath it will fade but you wont have blotchy lips (everyone hates that xD)
5. Lip gloss if wanted :]

--> *** Blot the lips to remove excess lipstick and blot again after lip gloss. Then if needed apply a little more and blend with finger

That should work...
Truthfully I never Wear Lip colors D:
but good luck, Most women (excluding me) always love to have sexy bright lips n,n
and every girl who does should be able to experience that n,n
